On October 8, 2026, the exhibition of works by artist Ksenia Znachkova, “Manuscripts Don't Burn,” was opened at the Alexander Solzhenitsyn House of Russian Abroad. The event became part of the celebration of the 135th anniversary of Mikhail Bulgakov's birth.

The exhibition features paintings and graphic works dedicated to the life and creative work of Mikhail Bulgakov, as well as models for his works – installations made of clay, textiles, wood and paper. The paintings are made in oil technique, the color graphics in mixed media, and the black-and-white works in the form of an essay on the writer's life are drawn in ink.

- Here you can visit Patriarch's Ponds, immerse yourself in Margarita's sorrow and witness the dialogue between Yeshua Ha-Nozri and Pontius Pilate. It is quite possible that Behemoth the Cat will even call you and invite you for a ride on the fateful tram, - the organizers say.

The guest star of the opening ceremony was theater and film actress Elena Sokolova. She performed an excerpt from Mikhail Bulgakov's novel «The Master and Margarita», masterfully enhancing the mystical atmosphere of the evening.

In an interview with Literaturnaya Gazeta, the actress commented on her performance:

– Solo performances are the highest degree of acting freedom. But also, a huge responsibility. You are alone on stage, you have to capture and hold the viewer's attention throughout the action. This is a special way of living on the stage, requiring maximum dedication.

The event was supported by the World Peoples Assembly, the Association of Cultural Figures “Open Art Dialogue,” and the «MediaInfo» agency.

Ksenia Znachkova is an artist, participant of national and international exhibitions, a member of the Creative Union of Professional Artists and the Association of Plein-air Artists. Her works are held in state museums and private collections.

Elena Sokolova is a theater and film actress, a laureate of Russian and international competitions, and a successor to an acting dynasty. The actress is a member of the troupe of the Moscow Drama Theater “Benefis,” appears in films and gives solo concerts in Russia and abroad in Russian and French.
