A New Stage of Partnership and Observer Status: A Meeting of Representatives of the World Peoples Assembly and the League of Arab States Was Held in Cairo

On October 5, 2026, the headquarters of the League of Arab States in Cairo (Egypt) hosted a meeting between the delegation of the World Peoples Assembly, members of the Arab Peace Group, and the leadership of the League of Arab States.

The negotiations were attended by Advisor to the Secretary General of the World Peoples Assembly Yaser Allaham, Secretary General of the Arab Peace Group Samir Habashneh, members of the Parliament of Egypt Atef Mohamed El-Magawri and Khaled Kandil, member of the Arab Peace Group Abd al-Hussein Shaaban, and other high-ranking officials.

During the meeting, important issues of cooperation were addressed. In particular, the parties discussed the status of the World Peoples Assembly as an observer organization at the League of Arab States, which fully supports the Assembly's international projects and events.

The participants devoted significant attention to the World Public Summit: The Arab World, which the Assembly, together with the Arab Peace Group, will hold in November 2026 in Amman.

The League of Arab States proposed including in the agenda of the upcoming summit a discussion of a number of pressing humanitarian issues: water resources, climate change, drought, and ecology. The head of the organization, Nabil Fahmy, has also been invited to participate in the summit's events.

A separate topic of the meeting was the prospects for information exchange between the organizations, as well as the possibility of opening representative offices of the World Peoples Assembly in Arab states.

The parties unanimously concluded that expanding contacts and closer international interaction are necessary in the current conditions. The meeting was substantive and productive. The agreements reached will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to the development of public diplomacy and will become a solid foundation for further fruitful cooperation.
