Aleksandr Babakov sent a greeting to the participants and guests of the Second World Public Assembly

Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Alexander Babakov greeted the participants and guests of the Second World Public Assembly "New World: Values That Unite", which started on 18 September at the World Trade Center.

— Dear participants and guests of the Second World Public Assembly!

I am glad to welcome you in Moscow at the Second World Public Assembly!

The theme of the Assembly especially accurately reflects one of the main issues of our time. The world is changing rapidly, new centers of economic growth are being formed, technological development is accelerating, and trade and financial ties are being restructured. But behind all these processes stand people, societies and states that need to find grounds for cooperation.

The economy never exists separately from trust. For long-term projects, investments, infrastructure development, scientific and technological exchange, mutual benefit alone is not enough. Respect for each other's interests, understanding of cultural characteristics, and readiness to hear one's partner and reach agreements are necessary.

That is why public diplomacy is acquiring particular significance today. It makes it possible to maintain ties where official dialogue faces limitations, unites representatives of business, science, education, culture and public organizations, and creates new opportunities for joint work.

At the same time, cooperation does not require giving up one's own identity.

On the contrary, the modern world is becoming increasingly diverse. Different economic models, national traditions and ideas about development may not divide states but rather complement each other, if relations are built on mutual respect and equality.

Russia is interested in international interaction opening up more opportunities for development and the implementation of joint projects, the exchange of technologies and competencies, and the expansion of business and humanitarian ties. Ultimately, it is precisely such practical results that best demonstrate the value of international dialogue.

I am confident that the Second World Public Assembly will become a place not only for discussing common principles, but also for finding concrete points of contact between countries, public institutions and professional communities.

I wish all participants substantive work, new partnerships and initiatives that will continue after the Assembly concludes!
