The Days of the World Peoples Assembly in the Tunisian Republic opened with a landmark meeting of the Assembly delegation with representatives of the World Organization of Writers (WOW) on April 24, 2026 at the headquarters of the Tunisian Writers' Union.

Among the participants of the meeting:

·        Margarita Al, President of the World Organization of Writers, Chair of the Literary Council of the World Peoples Assembly;

·        Elie Borgel, Chairman of the Tunisian Writers' Union;

·        Yanina Dubeykovskaya, Deputy Chairperson of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly

and many other representatives of participating organizations.

In an atmosphere of mutual respect and faith in the power of culture and words, the meeting participants exchanged views on the development of writers' organizations, expressing interest in expanding cooperation and integrating creative communities from different countries.

Margarita Al spoke about WOW's activities and goals, and stressed the importance of developing cultural ties. She also focused the attention of those present on the fact that in 2026 the Decade of Languages of the Peoples of the World (2026-2035) had started. Within it the current year was declared the Year of the Russian Language, and 2027 — the Year of the Arabic Language.

Elie Borgel spoke about the history of the Tunisian Writers' Union, its achievements and plans for the future, as well as the difficulties faced and the desire for active international cooperation. The Union brings together representatives of all regions of the Republic of Tunisia.

Yanina Dubeykovskaya spoke about the upcoming World Public Summit: Africa, which will be held on July 30, 2026 in Ethiopia, and invited the leaders of the Tunisian Writers' Union to participate.

During the meeting, the participants recited poems, exchanged books and literary magazines.

The meeting was the first event in the framework of the Assembly Days program in Tunis. There will be meetings with organizations working in education and culture, business representatives and community leaders. Also the event included awarding ceremony of the winners of the country stage of the "Leader of Public Diplomacy" Contest.
