Interfaith Dialogue: World Peoples Assembly Delegation Met with the Head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq
As part of the visit to Baghdad, the World Peoples Assembly delegation headed by Secretary-General Andrey Belyaninov held a meeting with the head of the Supreme Islamic Council of Iraq (Shiite movement in Iraq of the pro-Iranian organization) Sheikh Humam Hamoudi.
During the meeting, issues of interfaith interaction, spiritual unity, and the joint responsibility of religious leaders for strengthening peace and harmony were discussed. Special attention was given to the preparation of the Arab Summit, within the framework of which it was proposed to hold an interfaith round table with the participation of spiritual leaders of different denominations.
"All the world's denominations can gather at the Arab Summit and join hands," noted Sheikh Humam Hamoudi.
"A delegation from the Vatican participated in the First World Public Assembly in Moscow. People believe their spiritual leaders," added Andrey Belyaninov, emphasizing the significance of faith as a unifying force in global dialogue.
The meeting also discussed the philosophy of global happiness, and a blessing was received for the implementation of joint humanitarian initiatives.
The visit became an important step towards forming a platform where the voice of spiritual leaders will be heard in the interests of peace, justice, and mutual understanding.
