Global Initiatives of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly discussed in Brazil
The meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly was held on June 16, 2026, as part of the World Public Summit: Latin America "New World: Latin America in Shaping a Shared Future", held in Salvador (Brazil) on June 16-17, 2026. The event brought together more than 40 experts, 12 presentations were made.
The Summit in Brazil continues the series of regional summits in 2026 and aims to form practical initiatives that will be presented at the final World Public Assembly "New World: Values that Unite" in Moscow in September 2026.
In modern conditions of international instability, the need to consolidate the efforts of the global scientific and expert community to develop and implement joint international scientific and public projects has increased significantly. The meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly in Brazil was a continuation of the implementation of global humanitarian initiatives adopted at the First World Public Assembly in September 2025.
The meeting was moderated by Alexander Ageev, Chairperson of the Scientific Expert Council, member of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly, Director General of the International Research Institute of Management Problems (IAMR), member of the Club of Rome.
The meeting participants discussed the following topics:
geopolitics and security in the new era;
ecology and sustainable development;
technology and the future of humanity;
The humanitarian dimension and values;
the economy of the future.
The key speakers were:
Juan Miguel Diaz Ferrer – Co-Chairman of the Supreme Advisory Council of the World Peoples Assembly, Professor at the Pedro Gual Institute of Higher Diplomatic Studies in Caracas (Venezuela);
Vicente Barrientos– President of the BRICS Center (Brazil);
Galina Borisevich– PhD, Professor at UNICOC (Brazil);
Yuri Borisevich – Professor at the University of Sao Paulo (Brazil);
Praskovya Prokina - an employee of Rossotrudnichestvo in the Republic of Brazil;
Barbara Carolina Vegas Thomas - Administrative Coordinator at the Central Bank of Venezuela, Chairman of the BRICS+ Popularizers Center for Cooperation and Development in Venezuela,
and others.
Summing up the meeting, Alexander Ageev noted that the main attention of the participants was drawn to the geopolitical situation and the main hotbeds of tension in the world, the problems of sovereignty, the degradation of old and the formation of new institutions of the world order, new challenges to identity and culture in the context of digitalization and violent methods of economic competition.
The participants agreed to develop cooperation to study the current global situation, including in South America and the Caribbean, with a focus on the evolution of values and culture, digital ecosystems, energy and ecology. The need to consider the issues of improving the United Nations, creating new international security and development structures was also voiced.
During the meeting, the current projects and initiatives of the Scientific Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly were considered, the dissemination of which would be advisable in South America.
The next meeting of the Scientific Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly will be held in July 2026 in Addis Ababa (Ethiopia).
