Global Initiatives of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly were discussed in Ethiopia
A meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly on the theme “Common Values for the Future of Humanity” took place on July 29, 2026, in Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia. The event was held as part of the regional World Public Summit: Africa “New World: Africa in Shaping a Shared Future,” organized by the World Peoples Assembly together with the Global Black History, Heritage and Education Centre.
Today, Ethiopia stands as one of the key hubs of East Africa and a dynamically developing economy on the continent. The country is strengthening its position in international public diplomacy and humanitarian cooperation. Addis Ababa, home to the headquarters of the African Union, plays an important consolidating role in shaping a pan-African position on key issues of the global agenda.
The meeting of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly continued the implementation of global humanitarian initiatives adopted at the First World Public Assembly in September 2025. Participants discussed key contemporary challenges and emphasized the need to consolidate the international scientific and expert community for the development and implementation of joint projects.
The meeting was chaired by Alexander Ageev, Chairman of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly, Director General of the International Research Institute for Management Problems, and Member of the Club of Rome.
The event brought together over 40 representatives of the scientific and expert community, including key speakers from Cuba, Ethiopia, South Africa, Tunisia, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, and the Congo.
Presentations were delivered by:
· Fidel Antonio Castro‑Smirnov (Cuba) – Academician of the Cuban Academy of Sciences, Professor at the University of Havana;
· Souleymane Anta Ndiaye (Senegal) – Chairman of the Executive Bureau of the International Movement of Russophiles (MDR/MIR), Chairman of the Forum for African Renaissance (FORA);
· Hédi Ben Salah (Tunisia) – President of the Tunisian Association of Graduates of Soviet Universities;
· Nyaka Lagoke (Côte d’Ivoire) – PhD, Professor of History and Pan‑African Studies at Lincoln University;
· Tsegae Chama (South Africa) – Secretary‑General of the Global Black Centre (Ethiopia);
· Nakedi Mbamba (South Africa) – Senior Advisor to the Secretariat of the Global Black Centre, writer, ideologist, journalist, and advocate for a just world;
· Gakuru Macharia (United Kingdom) – Founder of the Kidney Research journal in Kenya and East Africa, journalist, author of numerous articles on African culture and heritage, and on clinical biomedicine;
· Jean‑Jacques Lukusa (Democratic Republic of the Congo) – Vice‑President of the Union of Sports Clubs of Lembe,
along with other representatives of the scientific and expert community from African countries.
The meeting addressed issues of geopolitics, economics, ecology, sustainable development, and humanitarian development in the context of shaping values that unite humanity.
Summing up the session, Alexander Ageev noted:
- At the heart of the African meeting of the international expert community, the most frequently raised issues include the impact of spiritual and moral values and culture on the common future, the preservation of African heritage, the protection of the sovereignty of developing nations, as well as food security, digital ecosystems, ecology, and unlocking the potential of youth.
During the session, participants reviewed 17 global initiatives of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly, as well as existing projects that can be scaled and adapted for the African continent.
