Headquarters of the World Peoples Assembly hosted the International Discussion "Scientific Diplomacy: Uniting the World for Cooperation and Development"
On March 17, 2026, the international scientific discussion "Scientific Diplomacy: Uniting the world for cooperation and development" took place at the Moscow headquarters of the World Peoples Assembly. The event became part of the International Marathon "Scientific Diplomacy: Uniting the World for cooperation and development", the winner of the “Trust and Unity” Grant Contest of the World Peoples Assembly. Within the marathon, leading scientists, experts in international relations, representatives of scientific and educational centers discuss the role of scientific diplomacy in building trust between states, developing international cooperation and finding solutions to global challenges of our time.
The participants in the discussion:
- Andrey Gorokhov - Project Manager, editor–in-chief of the journal "Russian Political Science", Candidate of Political Sciences;
- Olga Krasnyak – Associate Professor at the Higher School of Economics, Candidate of Historical Sciences;
- Veronika Wittmann - Professor at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz (Austria);
- Nazhim Riyad – Ambassador of Russian Education and Science in Lebanon;
- Danar Mustafa - President of the Foundation for the Support and Development of Russian-Kurdish Cultural and Public Relations;
- Jagdish Khatri – Ex-Director and Head of the UNESCO Network Department at the University of Mandsaur (India), Doctor of Sciences (PhD);
- Lika Chimchiuri - member of the Council of Young Scientists of the National Academy of Sciences of Georgia, a graduate student at the Faculty of Law of Sukhumi State University, Assistant to the Rector (Tbilisi, Georgia);
- Marat Baypakov – Doctor of Sciences (PhD), Master of International Relations, researcher, expert on Nuclear fuel and NPP Management at the Institute of burning problems of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan;
- Oleg Yasinsky - journalist for TeleSUR TV channel;
- Dragana Trifkovic - Chairman of the Eurasian Media Forum (Serbia);
- representatives of scientific centers in Russia, Europe, the Middle East, Asia and Latin America.
The panelists discussed various national approaches to scientific diplomacy, the prospects for international scientific cooperation in the context of the global transformation of the world order, as well as the role of universities, research centers and the youth scientific community in the development of international dialogue.
– The implementation of the project "Scientific Diplomacy: Uniting the world for cooperation and development" is a vivid example of a successful collaboration between the scientific community and the World Peoples Assembly. The theme of the project directly corresponds to the key areas of the Assembly's activities – the development of international humanitarian cooperation, support for public diplomacy and the formation of platforms for constructive dialogue between representatives of different countries," said Olga Nefedova, Deputy Executive Director and Chief of Staff of the Chairman of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly.
Following the discussion, recommendations will be formulated on the development of scientific diplomacy as one of the tools for strengthening international trust and cooperation.
