Cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka prepares a Series of Events in India for the 65th Anniversary of the First Human Spaceflight
On March 25, 2026, in New Delhi, Cosmonaut Oleg Skripochka will speak at the World Public Summit: India "New World: India in the Architecture of a Shared Future", and, also, will host a series of educational events in India dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight.
– Astronauts see the Earth from Space without artificial borders invented by politicians, and this, of course, forever changes our view of the world. There is even a special term for this phenomenon, the Overview Effect, and I try to talk about it as much as possible to a wide audience around the world, - Oleg Skripochka explained.
On March 26, the cosmonaut will also take part in a round table on Space issues at the Russian House in New Delhi, where he will talk about his flight experience, as well as a humanitarian project that literally sends drawings of children's dreams from all over the world into space.
Art, science, and healthcare are phenomena that should have nothing to do with politics, but unfortunately people have to be reminded of this, - said Alyona Kuzmenko, president of the Unity Charitable Foundation, who will also participate in the round table.
Also, Oleg Skripochka will hold several meetings with students in India. The meetings will be devoted to Russian-Indian relations in space. One of them will be held at the Russian House in New Delhi for students of the Amity Institute of Aerospace Engineering (AIAE).
– This series of events dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the first human spaceflight is very symbolic. All political issues fade into the background when we talk about the first representative of humanity in Space. In this sense, Yuri Gagarin is an outstanding diplomat and ambassador of peace, and modern cosmonauts continue his work, - notes Alyona Kuzmenko.
