Open enrollment for the "Overcoming" Film School for creative youth has begun
The application process for the large-scale educational project "Overcoming" Film School — 2026, organized by the Federal Center for Humanitarian Practices, opened in July 2026. Training for young filmmakers will be conducted within the framework of the International Film Festival "Pobedili Vmeste" (We Won Together) with the support of the magazine "World of Museum".
The project is aimed at raising the level and quality of knowledge and skills of creative youth, as well as promoting a professional understanding of the fundamentals of cinema. Participants will be able to deeply study the rules of scriptwriting, the specifics of the filming process, and the basics of professional film editing. Training within the project is free of charge.
The film school is held in several stages (July–September 2026):
Submission of applications to the Film School — until July 31.
Participants will get acquainted with the program, watch online lectures, and do homework. This stage will conclude with the announcement of a competition for script ideas for subsequent selection for an online pitching session.
The organizers will select promising script ideas. Authors of the selected applications will receive an invitation to online pitching sessions, which take place in several stages. All participants who successfully complete the pitching sessions will receive certificates and volunteer hours.
Refinement of applications. At this stage, script ideas will be turned into scripts.
Filming will take place in various locations: in Moscow and Sochi with the participation of jury members and masters — guests of the "Pobedili Vmeste" festival. This will be followed by editing of the filmed material.
Invited jury members and masters — guests of the International Film Festival "Pobedili Vmeste" will take part in the discussion of the works. Based on the results, a selection of the best films will be made.
The winning film will be shown within the framework of the film festival.
Director of the Federal Center for Humanitarian Practices Alexey Pishchulin spoke about the overarching goal of training young filmmakers:
— Our goal is not just to show, but to demonstrate with evidence that cinema is a serious craft, and its secrets must be mastered. And one must learn before asserting oneself.
The "Pobedili Vmeste" festival is the largest documentary film review in Russia with authoritative international participation, organized by the World Peoples Assembly and the Eurasian Academy of Television and Radio. Since 2005, events have been held in Sevastopol, Volgograd, Sochi, Moscow, and other Russian cities. In 2025, more than 650 films from 50 countries registered for the film review.
