International Competition “Leader of Public Diplomacy”
The International Competition “Leader of Public Diplomacy” is one of the key projects of the World Peoples Assembly. It is aimed at identifying, supporting, and consolidating leaders of the non-governmental sector who contribute to strengthening trust, dialogue, and cooperation between peoples.
The Competition, established in 2021, has become a sustainable international platform for interaction among public diplomats.
Mission of the Competition:
Forming an international network of public diplomacy leaders as an independent subject of global humanitarian interaction.
The Competition is held in several stages:
1. Application submission. Open to representatives of NGOs, public associations, educational and humanitarian projects implementing initiatives in the field of people's diplomacy.
2. Selection and semifinal. Expert evaluation of projects, essays, and public activities of the participants.
3. Educational module. Online intensives, strategic sessions, meetings with laureates of previous years and international experts.
4. Final. Held as part of the World Public Summits and becomes part of the global humanitarian agenda.
The Competition forms an international network of public diplomacy leaders, a talent pool for humanitarian cooperation, and a professional community of experts in public diplomacy, creates a sustainable system of mentorship and continuity.
In the first four years of implementing the international format, the Competition has brought together participants from more than 47 countries around the world and has formed an international community of finalists and laureates from Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East.
Every year the Competition demonstrates an expansion of geography, growth in the number of applications, and strengthening of international representation.
A distinctive feature of the project is the active participation of laureates from previous years in organizing new stages of the Competition. This approach creates a sustainable institutional development model.
In 2026, the Competition enters a new level of development. For the first time, national and regional stages are being launched, and a multi-level selection system is being formed. The international final will be held within the Second World Public Summit “New World: Values That Unite” (Moscow, September 18–19, 2026).
