Delegation of the SCO National Centre for People’s Diplomacy paid an Official Visit to Wuxi
On July 8, 2026, the delegation of the National Center for People's Diplomacy of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (Russia), headed by the Director of the Center, Deputy Secretary General of the World Peoples Assembly Stanislav Korolev, visited Wuxi (China). During the official visit the delegation held a meeting with the leadership of the municipality, where discussed issues of developing cooperation between the Russian regions and the city of Wuxi through public diplomacy. Both sides noted the high potential of the bilateral partnership.
The Head of the Office of Foreign Affairs, Wuxi Zhan Yi, commenting on the results of the meeting, stressed:
— We actively support the further development of partnership with the SCO National Center for Public Diplomacy in Russia and are interested in expanding our cooperation.
Representatives of the relevant departments of the municipality presented the current programs in the field of culture, tourism, sports, education and business cooperation.
For its part, the SCO National Center for People's Diplomacy has proposed a multilateral program of practical cooperation in key areas identified by the Chinese side. The parties held a series of consultations and reached a preliminary consensus on the priority areas of work on projects for the next two years.
The SCO National Center for People's Diplomacy in Russia was established on the initiative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation with the support of the World Peoples Assembly and the Assembly of the Peoples of Russia in 2023. On June 30, 2023, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, in the presence of representatives of the diplomatic corps of the SCO member states, took part in the grand opening of the SCO National Center for Public Diplomacy in Russia.
