The meeting between the Official Secretary of the World Peoples Assembly Alena Dolgopolova and the Secretary General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Nurlan Yermekbayev took place in early September 2026 in Beijing. The main topics of negotiations were development of humanitarian cooperation, strengthening of public diplomacy and expansion of interaction between civil society institutions in SCO member states.

Alyona Dolgopolova spoke about preparations for the Second World Public Assembly "New World: Values That Unite", which will be held on September 18-19, 2026 in Moscow. The upcoming international forum aims to bring together representatives of public organizations, expert community, culture, science, education and media from different countries.

The Official Secretary also presented a project of the World Public Summit in China — a new international platform for open dialogue, development of public diplomacy and implementation of joint humanitarian initiatives. The parties discussed prospects for joint work and possibilities for representatives of SCO countries to participate in the projects of the World Peoples Assembly.

Nurlan Yermekbayev emphasized the importance of the World Peoples Assembly’s activities, which are aimed at strengthening mutual understanding and trust between peoples. He highly appreciated the presented initiatives.
