Happiness of the Peoples of the World in Fairy Tales was discussed at the International Round Table in Tunis
The International Round Table "Happiness of the peoples of the World in Fairy Tales" was held as part of the Tunis International Book Fair on April 24, 2026. The event was organized by the World Peoples Assembly, the Representative Office of Rossotrudnichestvo in Tunis, the Tunisian International Exhibition Company supported by the Tunisian Association of Teachers of Russian Language and Literature. The event became part of the Days of the World Peoples Assembly, held in the Tunisian Republic on April 23 - 29.
The Round Table was moderated by the President of the World Organization of Writers, Chairman of the Literary Council of the World Peoples Assembly, poetess Margarita Al (Russia).
Key topics of the discussion:
· the role of folk tales in shaping worldviews, ethical and family values, and ideas about happiness in different cultures;
· strengthening intercultural dialogue through literary and educational initiatives.

· Ashraf Eldaly (Egypt) - poet, writer, translator, Vice-President of the World Organization of Writers, Chairman of the Union of Asian and African Journalists;
· Fouad Hamdi (Tunis) - educator, writer, public figure;
· Marina Volkova (Russia) - Head of the Department of Happiness of the World Peoples Assembly;
· Haykel Hadden (Tunis) - writer;
· Anna Matveeva (Russia) - writer.
In her speech, Marina Volkova spoke in detail about the project "A Fairy Tale in Each of Us", revealing the unique significance of a fairy tale as a tool for educating a harmonious, socially active and happy personality. The presentation was accompanied by an exchange of successful experiences in implementing socio-cultural and educational initiatives in different countries.
Ashraf Eldaly's report "Translating fairy tales as a path to happiness: Overcoming linguistic and cultural barriers", dedicated to the role of professional translation in preserving cultural heritage and building ties between peoples, as well as Fouad Hamdi's speech "Tales of Tunisia and their role in transmitting the values of happiness to future generations", aroused great interest among those present.
The presentations by Haikel Hadden and Anna Matveeva complemented the discussion with new perspectives on the role of the fairy-tale genre in national culture.
In the second part of the event, Margarita Al organized a lively discussion, during which participants shared memories of their favorite childhood fairy tales and reflections on the happiness that comes with this genre. Students studying Russian language and literature took a special part in the discussion. For them the meeting became a real incentive to deepen their knowledge and get acquainted with the cultural heritage of Russia and the Arab world.
"The international discussion has confirmed that a fairy tale remains a universal cultural code capable of uniting nations in the pursuit of happiness, justice, friendship, awareness and peace," the organizers of the event noted based on its results.
