World Peoples Assembly launched the International Flash Mob "Plant a Family Tree"
The Council on Ancestral Culture of the World Peoples Assembly initiated a flash mob dedicated to the Second World Public Assembly, which started on August 5 and will last until September 18, 2026. As part of the campaign, participants from different countries and regions plant Family Trees as a symbol of memory of their ancestors, gratitude to their family and responsibility to future generations.
The "Plant a Family Tree" flash mob is aimed at arousing interest in ancestral memory, strengthening the bond of generations and creating a living symbol of the continuity of family and clan.
—Planting a tree is a simple, understandable action, and as part of the campaign it is an opportunity not only to influence the ecology of the planet, but also to support public diplomacy, unite people from different countries around common values and give young people a living example of caring for roots and the future, - the organizers say.
Among the objectives of the campaign are:
drawing attention to the topic of ancestral roots and family history;
encouraging families to work together — planting a tree as a symbol of their kin;
strengthening intergenerational ties through conversations about ancestors, family histories and traditions;
the formation of a careful attitude towards nature as a space of life, memory and procreation;
uniting people from different countries and cultures around the idea of "remembering your roots and taking care of the future."
Larisa Dokuchaeva, Chair of the Council on Ancestral Culture of the World Peoples Assembly, told:
— When a family plants their ancestral tree, it's not just about caring about the environmental situation — it's a family story. We call out the names of our ancestors, tell our children about our roots, and choose together what our common future world will be like.
The flash mob is held simultaneously in different cities and countries and is open to individual, family, group, regional and international participation.
Participants from different regions and countries can plant their Family Tree on their chosen territory and share this family history: by September 17, 2026, you can send photos, videos and text materials about the campaign to the Council on Ancestral Culture of the World Peoples Assembly to the organizers’ email so that the history of each tree becomes part of a common international the project of memory and continuity.
You can plant a Family Tree only:
on private land plots;
on the territories of organizations, subject to approval;
on the territories of educational, cultural and public institutions, subject to approval;
in parks, squares, alleys and other public spaces with the permission of authorized persons;
on other territories where the planting of trees is allowed by the current rules and regulations.
The participants choose the type of tree and the generic meaning of the dedication themselves.
The Second World Public Assembly "New World: Values that Unite" will be held on September 20-21, 2026. Its thematic platforms continue and develop the decisions of the First World Assembly and World Public Summits in India, Latin America and Africa. On thematic platforms, the Assembly participants will discuss the values that will form the basis for a new world order and formulate specific proposals: They will be included in the Charter of Values of the New World and in the Final Document of the Second World Public Assembly.
At the annual meeting of the World Peoples Assembly members, the Secretary General Andrei Belyaninov noted:
— The political situation in the world is unstable, and when international law collapsed, hopes lie on people's diplomacy. It serves as a key stabilizing factor. It largely depends on us how the youth of the whole world will live.
