Summit in Brazil discussed Development Economics and Social Justice Issues
On June 17, 2026, the panel session "Development Economics and Social Justice" was held as part of the World Public Summit: Latin America "New World: Latin America in Shaping a Future", held in Salvador (Brazil) on June 16-17. The event, organized by the World Peoples Assembly and the Brazilian trade union organization Central dos Trabalhadores e Trabalhadoras do Brasil (CTB), brought together more than 40 experts from Brazil, Nicaragua, Venezuela, Cuba, Panama, Russia, Uruguay and Chile.
– Today, humanity is facing global challenges and sustainable development increasingly depends not only on resources or innovations, but also on the values on which economic and social systems are built. In such circumstances, social justice becomes an important factor for building a new world. Where the values of fairness, responsibility, trust and respect for partnership really work, strong economic ties are formed, entrepreneurship is developing, social stability and innovative development are being strengthened, the organizers of the discussion note. – In this way, conscious responsibility ceases to be an exclusively moral category and becomes a practical tool for building sustainable economies and forming a fair and secure society.
The panelists discussed:
how social justice becomes a strategic resource for economic development,
how can business, government and civil society jointly strengthen social justice at the national and international levels,
and other priority areas of concern for representatives of the Latin American business community.
The panel session was moderated by Alexander Ageev, Deputy Secretary General, Chairman of the Scientific and Expert Council of the World Peoples Assembly, Director General of the International Research Institute of Management Problems.

Summing up the session, Alexander Ageev noted:
– The participants expressed unanimous concern about the escalating practices of neocolonialism, hegemonism, intervention, economic robbery, disregard for the law, sovereignty and cultural identity of the countries of South America and other regions.
The participants of the discussion paid special attention to the problems of poverty and destitution, the equitable distribution of economic benefits, the protection of workers' rights to a normal working day, pensions, access to education, the healthcare system and digital ecosystems, the role of trade unions in protecting rights and creating an appropriate legal order.
