The Decade devoted to the 90th Anniversary of Olzhas Suleimenov ended with the Awarding of Participants

The decade devoted to the 90th anniversary of the world-famous Kazakh writer, poet, screenwriter and public figure Olzhas Suleimenov was held from May 14 to 24, 2026 with the participation of the World Peoples Assembly, the Kazakh National Cultural Center in Moscow, the Center for Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library and the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Lomonosov Moscow State University. One of the initiators and an active member of the Organizing Committee of the event was Zhibek Syzdykova, a leading researcher at the Laboratory of Oriental Culture of the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Lomonosov Moscow State University. The events were attended by members of the World Peoples Assembly, scientists, teachers, library staff, representatives of public organizations, youth, students and schoolchildren from the regions of Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Japan.

The events included:

  • video congratulations to Olzhas Suleimenov for the Good Morning program on Channel One;

  • contest of drawings based on the works of Olzhas Suleimenov;

  • international challenge "Reading poems by Olzhas Suleimenov";

  • book exhibition on the works of Olzhas Suleimenov at the Oriental Literature Center of the Russian State Library;

  • lecture by Zhibek Sydzykova on the works of Olzhas Suleimenov at the Center for Kazakh Language and Culture of Moscow State Linguistic University (in memory of the meeting, students received a gift of Olzhas Suleimenov's books "Defining the Coast");

  • a round table "Dialogue of cultures – the basis of the unity of nations" at the Center for Oriental Literature of the Russian State Library.

The awarding ceremony for the organizers and activists of the Decade devoted to the 90th anniversary of Olzhas Suleimenov took place on June 8, 2026 at the Moscow headquarters of the World Peoples Assembly.

Among the winners of the international challenge "Reading the poems of Olzhas Suleimenov" are students of the Institute of Asian and African Countries of Lomonosov Moscow State University: Andrey Volin, Timofey Ponarovsky, Timur Tebuev, Daria Simonenkova, as well as pupils of Moscow secondary schools Almira Musina and Darina Sharapkalieva.

Amirkhon Rakhimov, a student of the Patrice Lumumba RUDN University, took the first place in the drawing contest dedicated to the poet's work.

The participants received diplomas, letters of appreciation and certificates.

It should be recalled that as part of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of Olzhas Suleimenov, the solemn presentation of the World Award of Public Recognition "For Service to Humanity" and the VII International Forum for the Rapprochement of Eurasian Cultures in Alma Ata also took place.
