Belgorod became a Platform for International Dialogue during "My Belgorod" Marathon of Events
On May 21 - 22, 2026, Belgorod region hosted the marathon of events "My Belgorod". The event brought together international experts, government officials, the educational community, as well as foreign students and graduates of Russian universities.
The organizers of the marathon:
World Peoples Assembly;
Association of Foreign Graduates and University Students of the Belgorod region;
Government of the Belgorod region.
The Association unites international students and graduates; today it is an important platform for supporting the international student community in the region.

The marathon became a space for international humanitarian cooperation, where issues of education, public diplomacy and cultural interaction were discussed.
The marathon program was preceded by the international conference "The Middle East: a Reliable Partner in International Education", held on May 20 at the Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law.
The conference was attended by international experts, leaders and public figures from the Middle East, as well as representatives of the education sector. The main topics of discussion were
the development of international educational cooperation,
strengthening humanitarian ties,
new formats of interaction with the countries of the Middle East.
Opening the conference, Rector of Belgorod University of Cooperation, Economics and Law, Doctor of Economics, Professor Elena Isaenko emphasized:
– Today we are reaching a new level of cooperation with the Arab states, based on the serious experience of international cooperation.
On May 21, an international delegation of honored guests took part in a wreath-laying and flower-laying ceremony at the Eternal Flame in Belgorod, paying tribute to the memory of the defenders of the Fatherland.
The event was attended by:
Walid Hamid Shiltag– Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the League of Arab States to the Russian Federation;
Ali Goutali – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Tunisian Republic, Advisor to the Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation;
Agatha Wensak - a public figure;
Mudalal Khoury – Chairman of the RUSSAR Charitable Foundation;
Svetlana Kuznetsova - a Russian public and political figure, leader of the public movement "We are Russians", adviser to the chairman of the Fair Russia party, and a full state Councilor of the Russian Federation, III class;
Yaser Allaham - an Advisor to the Secretary General of the World Peoples Assembly;
and many others.
After the ceremony, the international delegation arrived at Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov, where the guests were met by Acting Rector Sergey Glagolev. The delegation members laid flowers at the monument to engineer and scientist Vladimir Shukhov, paying tribute to a man whose ideas and engineering heritage are known far beyond the borders of Russia.
Belgorod State Technological University named after V.G. Shukhov became the central venue of the “My Belgorod” marathon of events, bringing together international guests, students, graduates and representatives of the expert community around the ideas of education, cultural exchange and cooperation.
In his greeting to the participants of the marathon, Andrey Belyaninov, Secretary General of the World Peoples Assembly, noted:
– Today we are opening more than just a series of events. We create a space of new opportunities, ideas and international communication that can develop into strong professional and human ties.
He also stressed the importance of developing international humanitarian cooperation, supporting youth initiatives and strengthening public diplomacy.
Welcoming the participants of the marathon, Sergey Glagolev, Acting Rector of BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov, noted:
– Every year the number of international students at BSTU named after V.G. Shukhov is growing. We value each of you, and our graduates - Russian and foreign - are the best proof that the knowledge gained at the university works for the benefit of people all over the world.
The marathon events included a panel discussion held with the participation of international students and graduates, representatives of government authorities, universities and the expert community. The participants discussed the issues of education and adaptation of international students, the expansion of academic and humanitarian ties, as well as the role of graduates as important participants in international cooperation.
