Strategic Global Projects of the World Peoples Assembly were presented at the Global Black Centre Meeting in Ethiopia
February 28 to March 1, 2026, the delegation of the World Peoples Assembly participated in the annual meeting of the Global Black Centre in Addis Ababa (Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia).
The Global Black Centre (GBC) is an international platform aimed at preserving, developing and popularizing the historical, cultural and spiritual heritage of the African peoples and the African diaspora. The organization's key activities include strengthening cultural identity, supporting international cooperation, and shaping a positive humanitarian agenda that reflects Africa's role in global development.
Svetlana Smirnova, Chairperson of the General Council of the World Peoples Assembly, made a presentation on the activities of the World Peoples Assembly. She presented its key international projects, including the outcomes of the First World Public Assembly "A New World of Conscious Unity", held in Moscow in 2025, which brought together more than 4,500 representatives from 153 countries. An important part of the presentation was information about the preparations for the Second World Public Summit "New World: Values that Unite" and a series of regional Summits in 2026, one of which — the World Public Summit: Africa — will be held in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in July.
During the event, Yanina Dubeykovskaya, Deputy Executive Director of the World Peoples Assembly, held working meetings with representatives of partner organizations, and also presented the international exhibition of African artists African Women in Art Award (AWAA), which will take place in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in April. The AWAA initiative is aimed at supporting and promoting African women artists, unlocking their creative potential, strengthening their cultural identity, and expanding international artistic cooperation.
The event also featured a presentation of an Art Album by Ethiopian artist Gebremariam Selamawit Gebretsadik. Her exhibition was previously held in Moscow. The Album was presented to the President of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, Mr. Taye Atske Selassie, as a symbol of the development of cultural dialogue and the strengthening of humanitarian ties.
The key outcome of the visit was a Memorandum of Understanding between the World Peoples Assembly and the Global Black Centre. The document was signed by Svetlana Smirnova and Global Black Centre Secretary General Mr. Tsegaye Chama. The Memorandum establishes the intention of the parties to develop long-term cooperation in public diplomacy, cultural interaction and the preparation of joint international initiatives, including the holding of the World Public Summit: Africa.
- The participation of the World Peoples Assembly’s delegation in the annual meeting of the Global Black Centre was an important step in the development of strategic partnership, expansion of humanitarian dialogue and the formation of sustainable international relations in public diplomacy, culture and the preservation of historical heritage, — said Svetlana Smirnova.
